OngoingA not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of services to the cybersecurity community, more specifically within the education sector for students, teachers, and parents to understand the importance of cybersecurity.
There are multiple goals for Threat Intel:
- * Provide a platform for students to learn about cybersecurity
- * Allow students to be involved within the cybersecurity space in a safe manner
- * Understand the landscape of cybersecurity within Canada by creating a kind of sensornet with honeypots
Background
At the start of 2024, Bell Canada was affected by layoffs with a lot affecting my old co-workers and old managers. I work within the cybersecurity field and they had an idea about creating this organization.
I got involved by helping with the creation of their website and will be more involved regarding the technical aspects of the organization.
Website
I’ve helped them with the creation of the website. Its goal is to be user-friendly and to provide a lot of information for students, teachers, and parents to understand the importance of cybersecurity. It will also have a portal for students and teachers to interact with each other and learn about deployments of honeypots amongst other things.
In development
The end website is developed using Astro (since it’s mostly a static website), using Tailwind.css for styling, and deployed on Cloudflare Pages where the backend for our portal will reside within Cloudflare workers and related technologies.
It also contains a blog powered by markdown files, a wiki (that are simply cloud Confluence pages), and will eventually contain a forum based on Discourse for interactions between students, teachers, and us.
